  • How do I become a patient?
    Thank you for your interest! There are several ways that you can could indicate your interest in becoming a patient. -Submit your information, either on this website or on my medical record page (www.tinyurl.com/drfurer) -You may also try to reach me directly by phone or by email, however please be aware that I usually respond to messages within one business day.
  • What are the ages of patients that you treat?
    As I am double board certified in both General Psychiatry as well as Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, I am comfortable treating patients from 3 - 65 years of age.
  • Which locations do you see patients?
    Currently, I am licensed in both Florida as well as New York. For both states, I am able to conduct virtual visits- seeing you from the comfort of your home, office, or any secure location! I am also evaluating patients in-person in my office in Jupiter, FL.
  • Are you the right doctor for me?
    Yes or no. Unfortunately, it is difficult to immediately know if we will be a direct fit with one another. While I am experienced in a number of treatments and modalities, I will have to meet with you for a consultation to determine the appropriateness to the clinic. After one to two sessions, we can make the decision together. While I am a great fit for some, I am happy to work with you on finding an appropriate provider if necessary!
  • What payments do you accept?
    We accept credit card, debit card, or FSA/HSA card payments through a secure platform.
  • Do you take insurance?
    I am not contracted with any commercial or third-party insurance payers. Due to limitations set strictly by many companies, I do not accept insurance so that I am more flexible and accessible for my patients. However, I am happy to work with you on obtaining reimbursement from your insurance company. If you are not sure about whether or not you have out-of-network benefits, it is suggested that you speak to your insurance company, inquiring about reimbursement benefits for your particular plan in regard to out-of-network psychiatrists.
  • Do you accept Medicaid or Medicare?
    Unfortunately, I am unable to see individuals with these plans at this time. I would recommend seeking out these services in other settings.
  • Do you participate in telemedicine / telepsychiatry?
    I am happy to report that I participate in telemedicine / telepsychiatry consultations and visits! This is a secure platform in which treatment visits can occur via a video screen, either on your personal phone, tablet, or laptop. This is now an important treatment option that you have when you may not feel comfortable or unable to leave your house, or have a busy life! I'm happy to work around your schedule, and ensure that you can receive the treatment you deserve, wherever you are! Participants of this treatment modality are recommended to use a secure, fast internet connection as to not create difficulties with the platform. It also recommended that are you in a quiet, private area that will allow privacy.
