Dr. Tzvi Furer is an experienced psychiatrist driven by his goal to bring positive changes into your life. Holding dual board certification in Child & Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, he brings a knowledge cultivated through rigorous training at NYU Langone Health and Bellevue Hospital in New York City, as well as extensive mental health experience across both New York and Florida.
Dr. Furer's approach tackles a broad spectrum of challenges, including mood disorders, anxiety, and ADHD. Dr. Furer strongly believes in a symptom-focused approach to treatment and incorporating evidence-based practices. Whether through psychotherapy or carefully prescribed medications, Dr. Furer is dedicated to your emotional well-being.
Dr. Furer's professional background involves experience in inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and community treatment, catering to individuals across all age groups. Beyond clinical practice, he has actively engaged with national medical organizations and contributed to initiatives supporting both physicians and patients. Dr. Furer has also been awarded the status of Fellow through the American Psychiatric Association and Distinguished Fellow by the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, given for significant contributions in the field of psychiatry.

Academic Affiliations / Previous Roles
During his time in New York City, Dr. Furer is proud to have led the Inpatient Adolescent Psychiatric Unit at the historic Bellevue Hospital. During his time as Unit Chief, his unit also served as the only COVID+ inpatient adolescent psychiatry unit in all of New York City.

In addition, Dr. Furer is thrilled to have served as the Associate Program Director for New York University Langone Health's Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship, training the child & adolescent psychiatrists of tomorrow.

Dr. Furer has also had the privilege of working as an undergraduate professor at New York University, teaching several courses on various topics within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Studies (CAMS) minor. These topics included, sleep, narrative medicine, and even love!

Dr. Furer also ran a busy individual solo private practice in NYC, treating children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of conditions.
Post Doctoral Training
Dr. Furer completed his adult psychiatry residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center / Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he had the privilege of being elected Outpatient Chief Resident. Throughout his residency, Dr. Furer received the esteemed Resident of the Year award and actively participated in various local and national psychiatric leadership committees.

Subsequently, Dr. Furer undertook his child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at NYU Langone Medical Center / Bellevue Hospital in New York City. During this period, Dr. Furer assumed the role of Chief Resident for the Comprehensive Child Psychiatric Emergency Program. Following the completion of his fellowship, Dr. Furer continued his professional journey as an Assistant Clinical Professor in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital / NYU for an extended duration.
